According to the INDEPENDENT, this new color-mapping will be available across 220 countries the Google Maps feature supports. An improved street detail will be available in some number of cities.

Sujoy Banerjee, a product manager at Google Maps, wrote in a blog post, “While seeing natural features can help you get a feel for an area, sometimes you need more information to get around safely and efficiently”.
He further went on, “Soon you will be able to see highly detailed street information. That shows an accurate shape and width of a road to scale”. You can also see exactly where sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian islands are located. These features will certainly prove just useful to anyone “opting to walk or take other forms of solo transportation due to the pandemic,” Mr. Sujoy Banerjee also added.
Where is This Google Maps Update Available To?
This amazing street feature on Google Maps will first be available to London, San Francisco, New York, with the plans to roll it out to other major cities later on.

There was a high demand for cycling demands in Google Maps, at over 60%. Most people had to avoid public transport and so the demand for cycling arose.
In order to support these users who chose cycle transport, the Google Maps introduced details for Santander Cycles hire scheme, in order to offer full-time updates on the bicycles available at stations.
