If a transaction in PayPal is completed, users may not be able to reverse or cancel it. A PayPal payment can only be canceled if it is marked as ‘Pending or ‘Unclaimed’ on its transaction detail page.
How to cancel a PayPal Transaction that is Pending or Unclaimed
The steps to canceling a Pending or unclaimed PayPal payment is the same.
- Visit the official website of PayPal at PayPal.
- Log in to your account
- On your account dashboard, click on the name of the transaction you wish to reverse. It will take you to its transaction details page.
- At the top of the page, you will see ‘Payment Status’. If the word next shows ‘Completed’, then the cancelation will not be possible has the recipient has already received the money. But if the word shows “Pending” or “Unclaimed” wow! Then rush and click on the “Cancel” button
- You will be directed to a confirmation page. Click on the “Cancel Payment” button at the end of the screen. Your PayPal Transaction will now be reversed for you.
What Happens when your Payment is Refunded
If the PayPal Transaction is successfully canceled, the money will be returned to you. If you made the payment using a PayPal account or bank account, the money will take 3-4 days to return to your PayPal or bank account. But if you used a debit or credit card, the money will be returned to your card balance within 30 days.
What to do if you can’t cancel a PayPal Transaction
